The chicken farming Micro-Business is project managed by Mida at local level. One or two families at any one time are being provided with the material to create chicken runs, 200 chicks, chicken feed and daily project support. The aim is to feed the chicks and enable them to grow over a period of three months and then to sell them on at local markets. This sale generates enough money to purchase a further 200 chicks plus feed, and provide a small income, allowing the project cycle to start over again. Over time there should be sufficient profit to pay wages to the families working on the project and to increase the number of chicks being purchased. This project has already proved highly successful and is now generating profit.
